SUMMARY:Richmond - Parent Night Out Respite Night
DESCRIPTION:Self-Care Time for Caregivers!\nWe all love our kids\, and we all need some adult time too. Enjoy some time away while VDSA keep your children ages 5 to 16 safe and occupied! This event is open to families of individuals with Down syndrome and their siblings. For our Parent Night\, we are accepting participants ages 5 to 16. Email Kim to join the waitlist for this event if registration is closed: kwoodbury@virginiadsa.org. \n\nThe VDSA Parents Night Respite Event will take place on Saturday\, March 22nd from 4 pm- 7 pm at the VDSA’s office (1504 Santa Rosa Rd. Henrico\, VA 23294). Individuals with Down syndrome (5 -16) and their siblings (5-16) are welcome at this event. Games and activities will be provided for the attendees. Please bring a labeled bagged dinner (something that does not need to be heated) and a water bottle as well as any other supplies your children may need during their time with us. \nWhen you register\, please add tickets for all of the children that will attend. You will also receive an email requesting additional information about your children that will assist us as we care for them on 3/22. We must receive all of the information back before Thursday 3/20 to ensure your family’s participation. \nVDSA staff along with volunteers (who have all passed criminal background checks) will be on sight to supervise the attendees. The max attendance for this event is 15 participants so the event will book up quickly! We plan to make these events more regular and offer sessions where we will welcome babies and children under 5 in the future. This event provides a safe and welcoming environment for individuals to dance together\, learn\, and have fun with peers. \nTwo sessions are available: 5:00 – 5:45 pm for ages 5 to 12\, and 6:00 – 6:45 pm for ages 13 to adult. \nMiracles in Motion is designed to provide full dance experience to people with special needs. Providing complete dance education\, along with structured choreography in a dance company setting. The classes cover many styles of dance including jazz\, contemporary\, ballet\, tap\, musical theater\, and creative movement.
