The Virginia Down Syndrome Association hosts several annual fundraising events to help our community connect and grow. From our Step UP for Down Syndrome events, Annual Gala, T21 Golf Tournament, and other community gatherings, we strive to ensure our network and outreach is sustained and positioned to grow so we can continue to serve families and individuals with Down syndrome.

Celebrate World Down Syndrome Day by Rocking your Socks!
On March 21st every year, people all over the world come together to celebrate World Down Syndrome Day by wearing brightly colored socks. The date is symbolic because people with Down syndrome have 3 copies of their 21st chromosome, and socks were chosen because the Ds chromosomes look like mismatched socks! On March 21, 2025, Virginia Down Syndrome Association will join businesses, schools, and organizations everywhere to celebrate World Down Syndrome Day by rocking our fun socks!

1K & Family Festival

18th Annual Step UP for Down Syndrome 5K & Family Festival
The 18th Annual Step UP for Down Syndrome 5K & Family Festival was a tremendous success! On October 12th, participants and families gathered at Dorey Park for a day filled with a 5K run/walk, family festival, and community resource fair—it was a wonderful celebration of community and support!
