Support your child’s early literacy by attending the VDSA’s new Adaptive Storytime program hosted by VCU doctoral student, Kaitlyn Spitler, OTS, and the VDSA Education Director, Ame Branam at the VDSA office. Each session will feature a book from Natalie Hale’s Whole Child Reading Program, expanded with multi-sensory and motor-based approaches. It will further incorporate opportunities for free play and social engagement. This program is targeted towards children with Down syndrome age 0-5, though siblings and family members are welcome to join. 3,2,1 Pool Time Let's celebrate our family and friends with Down Syndrome on 3/21 by splashing in the indoor pool! March 21, 3-4:30pm @ Wilderness Presidential Resort Non-swimmers MUST have an adult in the pool with them at all times. Bring your own toys, floaties, etc! Individual with Down Syndrome is Free! Other family members $5/each Limited tickets, so RSVP early!! All families will also have to complete a Wilderness Resort Waiver too.

Richmond – Moving On Series: Cooking & Kitchen Safety

VDSA is reviving our Kitchen Safety and Cooking class series, and this time we're partnering up with Jacob's Chance and Good Neighbor Village to bring you four weeks of the following: Basic kitchen safety How to use kitchen equipment How to measure for recipes Recipe terminology Reading food labels Practicing making dishes using a recipe Classes will take place at a Good Neighbor Village cottage, so our chefs-in-training can practice in a residential kitchen.
